Common mistakes committed during Umrah – Part 5 (last)

So, we have reached the end of this wonderful “mistakes during Umrah” series. The five-part series was dedicated to the most common mistakes committed by pilgrims, while they are on Umrah.

We, at M G Tours and Travels, believe that we need to serve Allah’s guests in every way possible for us, and that is why we came up with this series, for everyone to benefit from. We do hold in-person training sessions for pilgrims as well but written information, in form of blogs comes in handy regardless of our physical location.

Here is the last part of the blogs, where a couple of more misconceptions regarding Umrah will be addressed. One of the common mistakes, committed during Umrah, is performing Tawaf on someone else’s behalf

Some people after completing their Tawaf, perform an extra round for a relative or a friend, or for that matter a deceased person. This, however, is wrong and has no basis in the Sunnah.

Yes, a Hajj or an Umrah can be performed on someone else’s behalf but not a round of Tawaf. We should always avoid doing things during Hajj as well as Umrah, which have no basis in Sunnah.

The last mistake or the misconception we want to talk about is, that some people think that it was compulsory to pray 40 Raka’t in Madina Munawwara. The pilgrims think that these 40 Raka’t of Nafl prayers are mandatory and a part of one’s Hajj or Umrah.

This has no basis and it is not mandatory at all. Yes, it is good to spend most of your time inside the Masjid-e-Nabwi and pray as much as you want to, but carrying the wrong notion that the 40 Raka’t are mandatory is not good. We should always avoid having such misconceptions about Islam.

So, here we come to the end of this five-part informative series. We hope this will be instrumental in helping you perform your Umrah and your Hajj better. Please share with anyone who is about to embark on the blessed journey, so that they can do it better.
