Common mistakes committed during Umrah – Part 3

In the first two parts of this series, we have tried to clear some basic misconceptions including about Niyyah, Ihram, wiping or kissing Kaab’a, and performing multiple Umrah.

We hope that you have gone through the first two parts before coming to this part of the series. However, these parts are independent of each other, and it is not imperative to go through all the parts.

We talk about and deal with individual issues and try to offer the solution to the individual issue, independent of the other issues touched on in subsequent blogs of the series. M G Tours and Travels has been for over a decade serving the pilgrims from Anantnag and adjoining districts and making their Umrahs and Hajj convenient for them.

This series of blogs is yet another attempt toward achieving that goal.

Talking of misconceptions during the Umrah, one of the most harmless ones seems to be kissing the Black Stone (Hajra-e-Aswad) from afar. This is not how it has been done by the blessed Rasulallah (SAW).

Yes, it is difficult to reach the Hajr-e-Aswad most of the time but you are not supposed to blow a kiss from afar. Either you reach the Black Stone and kiss it or you wipe your hand on it and then kiss the hand. These are the only two right ways to kiss the heavenly stone.

This is how our Prophet Rasulallah (SAW) used to kiss the Hajra-e-Aswad and it is advised that we do not make any more innovations than what has been advised by Allah (SWT).

In case, you are not able to reach the black stone, all you need to do is to point towards the Black-Stone and say Allah-u-Akbar. That is the sunnah, because “when Rasulallah (SAW) performed a Tawaf of his camel he pointed towards the black stone and said Allah-u-Akbar,” Ibn Abbas has narrated.

Most people think that the first dua they make when they set their eyes on Kaab’a is accepted. This is again hearsay and a misconception. No Hadees has been found which says that the first dua made at the first glance of Kaab’a is accepted.

The aim of these blogs by M G Tours and Travels is to clear misconceptions and ensure that the people who read these blogs do not repeat any innovations made in Umrah over the years.

We hope that we are making a difference for the people going on an Umrah or intending to do so in the future. In case you have any more queries you can call us or reach us through our social media handles.

We will love to clear the misconceptions and help you.
